"Dirt" is Just That

The FX original series Dirt, starring Courteney Cox, is supposed to be a behind-the-scenes look at a “gossip magazine.” It is the story of Cox, the editor, and her lack of shame in getting any story she wants.

Admittedly, the idea for the show is interesting. We hear so much banter back and forth between celebrities and gossip columnists, it seems interesting to have a celeb play a columnist in a series. The series has quickly become a ratings hit, and is the backbone of FX’s lineup, especially among original series.

The show, however, is filled with sinful behavior, and that has only grown more and more over the past few episodes. On the January 16th episode, one man kisses another. Following that kiss, the man then expresses his feelings for the other. The scene then gets far more graphic (too graphic for us to explain here). The American Family Association called it “one of the most explicit, sickening homosexual acts ever shown on television.”

Sadly, it doesn’t surprise me. Recently, I read that in an upcoming episode, believed to be the season finale, Courteney Cox, a southern girl from Birmingham, will kiss another woman.

While, hopefully, no Christian would ever watch this show, millions do. We need to be aware of what is on television. We need to know just how filthy many shows have become. We must keep the “dirt” out of our house.
